Eerie Likes To Be - IN THE CAN!

As I write this, my tireless minions are near completion of the post-production on Episode 2 of "Uncle Eerie's Shiver Show". An episode that was conceived, written, performed, and edited in roughly 72 hours. Not bad fer an ol' one-eyed Ghoul!

One might be askin' - why the heck did you do a whole episode in 3 days??? Well the answer is simply - we screwed up!

Basically, the episode that was SUPPOSED to be the 2nd Episode just ran too long. Got a bit too big for our britches, and our ambitions got the better of us. # weeks in and we were only half-finished. So, instead of rushing to complete it, we shelved it in favor of doing a more stream-lined show. So we'll be getting back to the previous project in a couple of weeks.

And honestly, despite the hurried pace, I'm pretty darned proud of our new Number Two (I won't call ya into the bathroom to look at it, though...)

So - what movie are we showing? Weeeellll - yer just gonna have to wait and see!

Yee-ha!

Here's the beginning...

of a very dark and lonely road.
one with no end
so long as there's air
and thoughts to think

what would be better?
to abandon said dark and lonely road
if it meant the end of air
the end of life

what would we do for a hint of
light
love
hope
purpose

would we step off the path of our dark and lonely road
for something unknown?

TOXIC ZOMBIE HORROR SHOW: THE AFTERMATH!

Hey Groovy Ghoulies!

So, this past Slaughterday, yer ol' Uncle Eerie and his Creepy Cohorts hit the stage of the Hawthorne Theater for a special "teaser" performance of the SHIVER SHOW for the Toxic Zombie CD Release party!

Now - as usual, things were a mite bit...hectic, backstage. Finding body parts, signing death waivers, brewing potions, reanimating corpses...it's enough to drive a madman madder!

But, finally the curtains were raised, the lights went up, and...

...CUE BRILLIANCE!

Seriously. We were great.

First up, we had my resident guitar-wailin' accompanist, Swampy Carl, a-strummin' and a-pickin' along. Then after an intro by my troublesome cousin Beau, I came out to an adorin' audience, who whooped and hollered like proper bunch o' maniacs should.

Then our first entertainer, the seductive Miss Devouria hit the stage to mesmerize the audience with her hypnotic bellydancin' ways. The crowd could barely contain their excitement - of their lunch!

By the time she was done the crowd was more than ready for our next performer. BUUUUUT - before he could make his entrance, a minor issue with ol' Cousin Mongo forced me to momentarily take leave of the stage. And my dear, mischievous Grampa Mortis commandeered the stage. Oh, that sneaky Grampa! He took the opportunity to try his hand as a troubadour! With Swampy Carl on guitar, Grampa crooned his brand of not-so-easy listenin' to the crowd of bewildered youths. His budding musical career came to an abrupt end however, when his pelvic gyrations resulted in a fractured hip. Poor Mortis had to be carried off by Mongo before we could continue the show.

After all the hysteria, it was finally time for a special appearance, and a special treat for the audience - professor Phantasmo Video and his Trivia Of Terror!

Our esteemed Dean Of Screams brought a few goodies with him to offer the crowd. After pullin' a few willing victims from the crowd, Sr. Video proceeded to drill the hapless youths with a series of grueling zombie-related questions. that even the most diehard hard-for-the-dead would have trouble answering.

Finally, all the questions were answer, all the goodies were given out, and Phanstamso left the stage, to return to Parts Unknown from whence he came. The crowd wiped the sweat from brows and thanked the God of their choosing for the mental respite.

Speaking of over-stimulation - it was time for our final performer, and what better way to end the night than with a dose of raw HEXUALITY...??? And who better to deliver than the every dead man's dream - Miss Itty Bitty Bang Bang! She shook, she shimmied, she self-mutilated! The crowd stood, both enthralled and repulsed! By the time she was done, entrails flew, tears flowed, and hearts broke.

And then - that was it!

But trust yer dear Uncle Eerie, folks; if you missed the show, then you missed out, suckas!
All in all, it was a HORRORbly good time had by all. I just hope Hawthorne Theater knows a decent home remedies for removing blood stains...!

And oh yeah! A few Special Thanks to:

*Shashonna Knecht (who made us all so purty, and took care of all our problems!)
*Toxic Zombie (Fer invitin' us along fer the wild ride!)
*Viktor Maddok (fer being the bestest sound-guy, ever!)
*The Unchained Girls (fer bein' so nice!)
*Dan The Impaler (Fer being a proper Horroregon!)
*The Dark Lord Moloch (our infernal allegiance to you, master!)

Weekly Deity, Anubis

So i procrastinated the shit out of this piece but i think i'm getting a little bit closer to nailing down a style i just need to motivate myself to get more drawing done.

Deity Week

It has been bestowed upon me to pick the jam for this week. I was looking at the vast culture of our human race and there is a lot of deities out there. So we will draw a deity. There are so many to choose from it's off the charts, from Dagon to Molach. Odin to Zeus! You name it, it's out there.

Belated (and incomplete!) Week 2 Submission - Rumplestiltskin

Hey guys, I'm Trev. Sorry I didn't contribute anything for Week 1. I started this Rumplestiltskin piece for Week 2 with the best of intentions, but between packing to move and illustrating a not-terribly-successful webcomic, I didn't get a chance to finish it in time.

But yeah, as you can see, we've got ol' Rumpy stealing the millworker's daughter's baby after stitching her lips shut with golden thread to keep her from saying his name. I might revisit this at a later time. As it is, a weekly piece like this is a lot to add to my schedule, so don't expect a ton of contributions from me.

Peace.

WEEK #3 monsters

Much like justin, i sadly have nothing to contribute for week #2. But i've been tasked with coming up with this weeks topic. I wanna see monsters. Anything from traditional movie style to out of this world designs. The goal; make em scary!

Submission fail.

Ugh, sorry about not posting this week guys, I never got a chance to work on my piece, I will prolly make it a backburner submission and work on it between other pieces and get it posted when I can. Looking foreward to this next weeks topic to get one done and submitted on time.

Weekly #2 Grim Fairy Tale

Hey there little red riding hood, what a big knife you have...

Ok so i started off loving this piece and as time wen on i got less and less enchanted with it. I think my problem was i didn't spend enough time on the initial sketch getting mostly everything right. I didn't use enough reference on the clothing and as a result it came out a little bland in my opinion, and lastly i used dodge to try and correct some lighting and using the standard dodge soft brush is a bad idea and i think it just detracted from my initial more stylized "dirty" painting.

On that note, i would really like to encourage everyone to give some more feedback on peoples stuff, I've been slacking myself but i'm going to get on it a little more starting this week, for me personally i want my work torn to shreds so if you see anything wrong with any of my stuff, or maybe see something that you would have done different i'd love to hear it, thats the whole point of this art blog and as a result i think we'll all grow as artists if we can keep critiques good and constructive. Thanks guys, looking forward to everyones weeklys!

Next week

Ok so i forgot to mention that DeathToVideodrome will be picking the next weekly. Hopefully people will get their stuff up tonight so we can get an early start tomorrow.

Bored at work+Win Paint=Old school awesome!

This is what I get paid to not get caught doing...

Weekly Concept #2 Grimm's Classic Fairy Tales

Alright guys and gals, second week! Week 1 had some solid entries and I would love to see us keep up that momentum! We botched the first week in a few little ways though, this week let's try to get into a smoother rythem, let's try to have all of our pieces submitted by midnight on Thursday so that we can have Friday be fresh for the new topic.
An idea for a series of designs I've been wanting to play around with is Grimm's Classic Fairy Tales, we all know them, we all love them, probably, and I think we should all do our own pieces based on them, or othe childrens fables, nursery rhymes, etc.
Little Red eating a banquet of stuffed Wolf? Court necromancer turn out to be the only one to "put" Humpty Dumpty "back together"? Hansel ünd Gretel as angelic choir childer singing at the feet of the lord? However you want to interperate it. DO IT!

Week 1 - wind god

I know this is a little last minute but here it is. Wind god. Started as earth in my head but ended up being wind to round out the picture set.

Week 1: Water Spirit

Poor quality Pic of a water elemental or spirit, first time using a new pen that I wasn't really happy with which actually ended up bleeding through ): onto another picture of mine D: so we'll go ahead and throw that pen in the useless box and come back to it some other day. Man, I really need to get a photoshop to get some color into my pieces; some great submissions up so far. Keep it up guys.

Week 1: Element God

Quick sketch up for a fire god. The initial sketch took about 10-15 min and the Photoshop coloring took about 30-45. I was hoping to get a lot more into the piece but my week turned out to be more busy than I had expected. Good luck to all!

Weekly #1 Element god

So this piece turned out alot better than i was expecting, I chose the earth element and this is the resulting god i came up with . all in all about 6 hours of work in photoshop and an hour of sketching in my sketchbook for the initial drawing. I used alot of shadow of colossus for reference, also looked at a few shots of shale from dragon age to get the design for the crystals.

Aural Inspiration

What Kind of music do you guys and gals like to listen to while you're working on your art or being creative? What do you find is the best kind of music to create to? Do you listen to specific music? Or just the same music you like to listen to most of the time? Or do you not like to listen to music at all? What do you find helps you stay in the artistic mindset?

sketchings

Pulled a few pieces from the ol' sketchbook into Photoshop tonight and quickly inked them so i could throw something up in an attempt to get everyone more comfortable with the idea of just posting their work. Anyways, i'm kind of trying on a new style, its waaay more cartoony than i'm used to but i'm having alot of fun with it. The concept for them was just a quirky duo of treasure hunters, one silly one serious. enjoy

Im Enraged, But since the folks Im mad at are all over the Myspace...its not safe to post there, So You all can read my Hatin' instead

<----- Here is a example of my FX Makeup.

Here is a example of  my Competitions work------->

First off let me say, that I dont get alot of work. Jobs are few and far between. There's just no real market for what I do in this town. But, every once and awhile some stupid band music video gig pops up, and I am able to pay rent on time for once by getting it.

Well Thanks to some other Hacks that I trained at one of the Local Haunted Houses...I am getting my jobs taken away.
Normally, this wouldn't bother me; No Fuck that...It would bother me, but I would eventually get over it.

But not this time.....Because I know that I am infinitely better than this guy. And the only reason He has any work at all is Because I taught him a bit so he could work a stupid Haunted House Job making teenagers into Zombies.

I am so full of Hate!

One a week!

Just a heads up, we are going to start weekly concepts this Friday. You'll have from then till the following Thursday at midnight to finish.

little shite

Glad to be here. Following the first piece this is the most recent thing I've done. Drew the little flower guy in pen first, sketch just grew around it.

WIP podcast

Here's a really informative podcast about sort of the inner workings of the art job market and how to improve your skill, networking, and chances or getting a job. They do interviews with artists talk about how to overcome certain hurdles and basically give alot of insight into the things that you should really know if you are passionate about it.

Authors:

The All Mother

My most recent drawing
Ballpoint pen (a shitty Bic I think...)
A concept I had for a dark goddess of life.

INTRO

First of all thanks for signing up, you guys are rad! So here's the deal; this is basically going to be a place for just my friends and their friends (it wont be open to the public, for now anyways) who are artistic to just come together in an attempt to better ourselves in that respect.

So here are a few things I want to accomplish with this blog

Art critiques- We all have those projects that have us banging our heads against a table in frustration. Post em here and get some feedback hopefully one of us can shed some light on it. Keep in mind this is for us to help each other get better, so don't be afraid to be honest but don't be a dick either.

Weekly subject- This i'm most excited about. So I like anyone artistic often stare at a blank piece of paper or my computer screen hoping an idea will magically pop into my head, also it's nice to have a REASON to get something rolling. Here's where you come in, once a week one of us will pick a subject and we'll all make a piece according to that subject. I'll just go down the list and each week and a new person will get to choose. This forces people to A. Have a reason to create and B. try something that they normally wouldnt, which is integral to bettering yourself.

Other crap- Cool links? Awesome resources like tutorials? Any art news, galleries, or inspiration in general. hell maybe even music that you tend to listen to while being all artsy. whatever turns your artistic cranks, post that shit here!! we'd all love to see it.

and with that, this bitch is officially off the ground, the next week or so will probably wrangling members so we wont start the weekly subject matter just yet, but feel free to start posting.. have fun guys!
